About us

A home, a job and a social life

mcch exists to support people to live full and valued lives. We believe it to be important for everyone to have the chance to choose where they live, have the opportunity to be meaningfully employed and have a full and fun social life.

Our areas of expertise are in the headings of learning disability, mental health and autism and most of our services are for adults, with one important exception, in Bexley, where we provide a range of respite services to children and their families. We also work with people who are in transition to adulthood. Everywhere we concentrate on the person first.

We are a charity that employs over 1500 people with a turnover in excess of £30 million and we work across London and the South East of England.

Our accommodation services range from specialised registered care for people with high levels of need through to supporting people in their own homes. We also provide employment and vocational services and social activities.

We believe in working in partnership with the people who use our services and their family members and close friends and professional agencies so we can be more likely to design a service which works for each individual.

We are also working hard to redesign services that we created up to 20 years ago as alternatives to institutional care and which themselves have become outdated.

This modernisation of services takes a lot of time and effort and mcch is prepared to invest capital to create new facilities before having to close anything down.

The vast majority of our funds are from contracts won with health and social care commissioners. Fundraising from other non-government sources is increasingly important to us as detailed elsewhere.

We are innovative and have developed a number of enterprises to deliver creative services to people in a way that supports their independence and these include the 'Tuck by Truck’ franchise, ‘Creative Cards’, ‘Really Good Films’, ‘autism london', 'byways’ and ‘Growing Concern’. Others will follow under the mcch brand. We employ over 100 people who use our services to help us deliver these enterprising services.
